September Celebration: GoTeam Got Talent Season 3

We admire talent but what we truly love is talent honed by a powerful combination of sustained learning and humility. For our celebration in September, someone (probably someone too young to have actually lived through the era) thought it would be a good idea to bring back the Eighties.

Yes, the Eighties. Big hair, neon clothes, disco and breakdancing moves, and all

As soon as we heard the opening bars of the teaser video for GoTeam Got Talent Season 3, we knew we were in for an evening of good music and crowd-pleasing performances. Leani, the first competitor, set the performance bar high with her version of the Journey hit “Don’t Stop Believin’” (first released in 1981). It was indeed a night to remember, as the tribe grows stronger and better, with no plans of slowing down any time soon.

We were only too happy to enjoy each other’s company and the Korean buffet in K-Pub BBQ, where we gathered to celebrate. Happier still that we didn’t have to decide who would win that night, because all the performances were great.

We cheered for team members who hit notes so high they did (the late and great) Whitney Houston proud and revived dance moves made popular by the Jacksons (Michael and Janet both).

There’s real value in celebrating with team members who step out of their comfort zones and share their talents in a world where it is often easier to criticise someone than to cheer them on.

One of our favorite writers, Brené Brown, once wrote: “We all have gifts and talents. When we cultivate those gifts and share them with the world, we create a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. Squandering our gifts brings distress to our lives.”

When we celebrate one another’s talents, we do it not just out of a fondness for glitter or group competitions. We do so to remind ourselves to embrace each person’s unique gifts and to inspire one another to cultivate and unleash these.

To bring all that creativity, discipline, and team spirit to what we strive to do every day at work.

Congratulations to Fifth Element for winning this year’s edition of GoTeamGot Talent, and thank you to all the team members who spent their Friday night celebrating and rewarding talent with everyone. Remember: embrace and cultivate your gifts!

We are GoTeam. Come join our tribe!
